Christy Baldwin
Lab Manager

Christy is currently a senior undergraduate student at the University of Washington of Tacoma working towards a major in Psychology. Through PERL, Christy is working with Dr. Beasley and currently incarcerated students through the Education Justice Project (EJP) at the Danville Correctional Center on developing a new model of the impact of self transformative learning through humanities education in prison. She is also PERL’s Lab Manager. After UWT, she plans on pursuing a doctoral degree and researching social and emotional learning in K-12 students.

Jordan Lankford
Research Assistant

Jordan is currently a Junior at the University of Washington Tacoma working towards a major in Psychology and a minor in Social Science Research Methods. He is working with Dr. Beasley to document the process of developing a Community-Based Participatory Action Research program for prison-to-college transitions. Jordan is also a mentor to undergraduate students at University of Washington Tacoma who are interested in pursuing graduate school. After UWT, Jordan is interested in working with LGBT+ community members that struggle with some form of moderate to severe mental illness. He plans to pursue a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology to develop knowledge and skills for this work.

Hailey Casey

Research Assistant
Hailey Casey is a first-year Masters of Criminal Justice candidate at Seattle University, specializing in Investigations and Crime Analysis Certification. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a minor in Criminal Justice in 2019 from the University of Washington, Tacoma. During her time at UTW, Hailey was a volunteer with Pierce County as a Community Accountability Board Member; diverting eligible juveniles fro1m the court system and providing accountability to the community and the victim.

Her position as a research assistant with Dr. Beasley sought to better understand the individual experiences relating to decision making and more specifically transitioning from prison to postsecondary education by using a Community-Based Participatory Action Research program. Hailey is naturally curious and driven to make a difference in the communities she serves. In the future, she hopes to work closely with community partners to consolidate comprehensive information and tackle the toughest challenges of our age with honesty and integrity.

Lillian Lampe-Martin

Research Assistant
Lillian is a graduate from the University of Washington Tacoma with her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a minor in Criminal Justice. She is working with Dr. Beasley to distinguish and understand the barriers that those released from prison may experience at any stage of their education paths by using a Community-Based Participatory Action Research program. After UWT, Lillian is interested in further her education by pursuing a Ph.D. in Forensic Psychology. With that, she hopes to work in the court system by providing competency evaluations and jury selection assistance.

Karen McAllister

Research Assistant
Karen McAllister is currently a Senior at the University of Washington, Tacoma working toward a major in Psychology. After completing her undergraduate degree, she plans to pursue a doctoral degree in either Clinical Psychology or NeuroPsychology. Karen is interested in ultimately working with military veterans with PTSD symptoms or other mental challenges faced as a result of a traumatic experiences.  

Karen is working with Dr. Beasley to learn more about the difficulties formerly incarcerated citizens face when trying to move forward with their education after completing their sentences. Military members face similar difficulties when reintegrating into the civilian culture.​

Kurt Myers

Community Advisory Board Development Project Coordinator
Kurt is a formerly incarcerated Senior at University of Washington Tacoma, majoring in General Business. While incarcerated, he made good use of his time--earning both an Associate in Science Major and an Associate's of Arts, along with various trade certificates. Having experienced both the transformative power of post-secondary correctional education as well as the hardships of transitioning from prison to college, he is working with Dr. Beasley and the PERL team to help enhance infrastructure for prisoners re-entering society with little more than $40 "gate money" and a dream. Kurt aspires to apply his expertise in  business communication, marketing, and organizational management to bolster public and private support for correctional education and prisoner reentry efforts.
